Our group music classes at Dedham School of Music are the perfect way to connect with others who share your passion. Designed for all ages and skill levels, these engaging classes offer a fun, collaborative environment to learn, create, and grow together.

Intro to Piano Class

This class is an excellent start for children in lower elementary school grades who are ready to explore the exciting world of piano!

We’ll introduce all the fundamentals, setting a strong and joyful foundation for future individual lessons.


Students will learn:
  • The layout of the keyboard and the musical alphabet
  • Correct finger numbers, posture, hand, and wrist technique
  • Basic rhythms and how to play simple songs
  • Moving smoothly between their right and left hands
  • Expressive elements like playing loudly and softly
Requirement:
Students will need a piano or keyboard for home practice to get the most out of the class. Contact us to inquire about schedule and availability as well as keyboard rental if needed.
 
Intro to Piano Class

Beginner Violin Class for Students

This class is for school-aged students ready to explore the violin for the very first time.


We mix fun music games with beginning violin playing, sparking joy and building a love for the instrument. By the end, students will perform together in an ensemble performance. This class is a valuable experience to cooperate, learn, and make music as a group! Contact us to inquire about schedule and availability. Violins are available for rent if needed.

Beginner Violin Class

Intro to Violin Class for Adults

Have you always wanted to play the violin? Here’s your chance!

This class is for adults of all levels, even if you’ve never held a violin before. Feel free to bring a piece you’d like to learn, or consider this class if you’d like to be a practice partner with your child who’s learning the violin.

In this class, you’ll learn to read treble clef, basic rhythms, and common music symbols. There will even be a performance at the end of the class! Sessions will be 60 minutes long and run for 6-8 weeks. Contact us to inquire about schedule and availability.

Violin Class for Adults

Group Voice Class

This engaging group voice class is perfect for singers of all ages.

We’ll cover the foundations of healthy singing, work on a few fun group songs, and create a supportive space for students to share and perform their own solo pieces for each other. This class is limited to a maximum of 6 students, with a minimum of 3. Students will be grouped by age.

Digital Music Making

Learn digital music production through the styles and genres that truly inspire you.

In this class, you’ll learn to use Soundtrap’s intuitive interface to bring your musical ideas to life. We’lll cover essential production concepts like arrangement and mixing, create custom tracks, and even collaborate in real-time. Once you’ve got the fundamentals down, you’ll tackle creative projects that challenge you to develop your unique production style.

No prior musical experience is required—just your passion for music and desire to create! Please bring your own laptop, headphones and a Soundtrap license (not included in tuition). Tuition will be determined by the number of students in the class. Contact us for more information.

Free or discounted tuition may also be available for EBT, WIC, and ConnectorCare cardholders through the Mass Cultural Council’s Card to Culture Program.
