Expanding Music Access to All
Dedham School of Music is proud to participate in Mass Cultural Council’s Card to Culture program in collaboration with the Department of Transitional Assistance, the Department of Public Health’s WIC Nutrition Program, the Massachusetts Health Connector, and hundreds of cultural organizations across Massachusetts by making cultural programming accessible to those for whom cost is a participation barrier.
Financial Aid and tuition assistance is available, even if you do not participate in the Card to Culture program. Our mission is to make music accessible for all, regardless of ability to pay.

Our new term begins on Feb 2nd!! So much going with DSM!
-We have lessons available on piano, voice, guitar, ukulele, trumpet, trombone, euphonium, French horn, clarinet, flute saxophone, drums, and percussion. Sign up now for lessons!
-Our Dedham Community Band resumes rehearsals on Thursday January 22nd at 7pm at First Church Dedham.
-Our Drop in Bluegrass Jams continue on the 2nd Monday for the Slow Jam and 4th Sunday of the month for the more experienced players. For this month that is January 12th and January 25th at 7pm at First Church Dedham.
-New classes for this term include Taylor Swift Ukulele and a group string class. And watch our website and newsletter for a new drop in jam group Unplugged Rock/Pop.

Meet Dr. Tommy Chiu — DSM’s incredible brass instructor and a true force in music education! 🎺✨
A native of Hong Kong now based in Boston, Dr. Chiu brings over a decade of international teaching experience and a passion for helping students thrive.
His students have gone on to succeed in region and all-state ensembles, top youth orchestras like BYSO and NEC Prep, and college music programs including BU, Boston Conservatory, San Francisco Conservatory, UMich, and USC. 🌟
When he’s not inspiring DSM students, Dr. Chiu performs throughout the Greater Boston area, serves as Principal Trombone of the Boston Civic Symphony, and regularly appears with regional orchestras across New England.
We’re so grateful to have him sharing his talent, mentorship, and musicianship with our community. 💚

We are truly an inclusive music community and welcome anyone from the surrounding areas to attend our performances or participate in music lessons, group classes, or ensembles.
Our community members are often from Dedham, Boston, Bridgewater, Canton, Chestnut Hill, Dover, Easton, Hyde Park, Jamaica Plain, Mansfield, Medfield, Milton, Natick, Needham, Newton, Norfolk, Norwood, Quincy, Randolph, Roslindale, Sharon, Sherborn, Stoughton, Walpole, West Roxbury, Westwood, and Wollaston, Massachusetts.
Piano Lessons
Discover the joy of the piano with personalized lessons. Our expert piano instructors will guide you through tailored instruction based on your experience level. Group Piano Classes for young children and adults as well as Collaborative Piano Sessions for teens or adults are also available. Piano lessons are offered on weekdays.
Guitar Lessons
Strum or pluck your way to musical mastery with private guitar instruction in all styles, including:
- Bass guitar
- Ukelele
- Mandolin
- Blues harmonica
Our expert guitar instructors are ready to guide you, no matter your preferred instrument or musical genre. Guitar lessons are offered on weekdays.

Find your rhythm and master the beat with lessons on drum set, bells, or other percussion instruments. Percussion lessons are offered on weekdays.

Bring the beautiful sounds of string music to life with personalized violin, cello, or viola instruction from our passionate and experienced instructors. Beginner Violin Classes (adults and school-aged children) are also available. Strings lessons are offered on weekdays.
